A funny octopus mural in Mission Beach at the lifeguard station. Mission Beach. Yes, Mission Beach. On our way to La Jolla. Clinty and the sea. I love this red flower. Very unusual. The plants are everywhere but normally have pink flowers. This is a street sign in La Jolla. Check out the name. I love it; a stairwell into the churning roil!! just a selfie by the seashore. We found the Indian Motorcycle store on Ketner Street. Up in Little India. Cool. I think selfies are moronic, but guess I'm often guilty these days. Check out the huge nutcracker! Below is a Christmas tree made of poinsettia s. It's about 20 ft tall! Found a new favorite restaurant! Our last year's favorite from Little Italy was no longer there. Found this one we like better. Posting it like this so I remember it and how to get there next year! the green stuff is chimichurri . FANTASTIC. Recipe (of sorts) below. I want to remember this place, too. But map below shows Hillcrest location and we went to Mission Beach location on Emerald Street. a third fave eatery I want to remember. I quite like this next photo. Taken in Modern Times brew pub.

Ate "lupper" at this place. Excellent ribs. Wow! Rosecrans soldier cemetery. Very big. Rather awe inspiring. Reminds me of France soldier cemeteries. Cycling up the huge hill to Cabrillo Monument. I love Pelicans. So does everyone else. The tide chart for today. The very long pier at Ocean Beach. With cool big waves.
Cycled to Hillcrest area. Aye at legendary Crest Cafe. Ate Creme brûlée French toast. Lots of thrift stores to poke in. Ha ha. sign in background says "Hillcrest" pix below are Modern Times brewery. Cool place. The mural is made of post-it notes!
These are famous onion rings from Hodads Best ever. This cafe was on TV show Diners Driveins n Dives. It's excellent.
earliest pix at bottom. This is our supper. Looks gross, but was delish! Casa Guadalajara restaurant in San Diego. Been waiting a year to come back. That's a handmade tortilla skin. Like bannock. Amazing,, Just arriving at hotel. Nice. No view. But nice. the view of Torrey Pines Golf Course. A very very famous course. Going into the pro shop at Torrey Pines. My panorama while lunching at Carlsbad. Don't look too closely at the ocean horizon; I moved the camera. Oops. Ha ha. This is a totally cool metal sculpture off the highway. Too bad about the pole! There's another fabulous one of a herd of horses 'jumping' across the highway over cars passing underneath, but I missed it this year. I was sooooo looking forward to seeing it again! Boo! OMG, a dust storm. It was windy. This was only very brief, but it was spooky. This pic is us coming out of it. We were completely blinded for about 10 freaky seconds. Day one in Palm Desert. Day was a little overcast. Still about 19 degrees out. And pool was 90 degrees!! So nice. Went to Coachella Valley Oasis Preserve today. Love that place! Gravelly desert with a 'line' of green where the San Andreas Fault cuts through the desert and the aquifer bubbles to the surface. Here's the pix:
Didn't do much for Christmas decorating. I do like the lights and the baubles. They did make it fee Christmasy
