I spoke to the vice principal in charge of the timetable. I told him I'd decided I don't really even want science and I only want learning assistance. I said that not only do I have the most overall seniority AND I've been teaching learning assistance the longest of anyone in the department, but if fairness matters at all, I've 'swallowed the bitter pill' for 3 years straight ... If not 4.
VP seemed to agree, but did ask If I knew what to do with the science class he'd put for me.
I looked Blankly at him just long enough for him to clue in and say that that was his job to fix. Right.
He also asked if I'd considered that it might poison the dept if Someone got forced to do ELL. I replied that our dept had the exact same problem when I was 'lost' to ELL. I was very angry, but did my job as a pro! Anyhow I thought it was a weird q because it made it sound like it mattered if we make another dept member furious, but no problemo with making me mad. WHAT A DOUBLE STANDARD.
Well, he did smile and nod and agree with me, but he ended the mtg saying he'd have to meet w the other admins first. Ugh.
I did contact the union, but they've said that within a dept, it doesn't gave to go by seniority. It can go by admin decision alone. Ugh. Ugh.
Well, this was all a week ago now to note the bullet and go have a second meeting with him to get the admin answer.
I'm worried.
