Went out for dinner at Rustic with our friend Mark. It's the restaurant at Francis Ford Coppola winery. It was so amazing. Also went to seashore Bodega Hesd to stand on the San Andreas fault. Hiked around Armstrong Woods park. Biked everywhere in the sun. Pics to follow; I'm having Internet problems and they won't upload. Went up to Hopland via back roads. So gorgeous! I even managed to get Clint to stop for a couple minutes so I could find a Geocache I'd tracked up there! But it was bizarre cache since - just by chance - it was within a foot of a deer skeleton. Eeew. It didn't smell. It was kind of old and vultures had already eaten everything. ... but still. Ugh. But back about that road. It was high up and hilly with perfect motorbiking curves. Very deciduous parkland-y in farm country. We had a beer in Hopland and chatted up the bartenderette and a local guy. He gave us some ideas of places to go for live music, oysters, and pretty views. After that, we biked casually to the Russian River Pub. Kept to back roads again. Already been there twice but we love that place. Had homemade clam chowder then a BBQ turkey burger. It was amazing. Both the soup, which we've had prior years and it's the BEST EVER, and the burger. It had bacon on it and homemade pineapple salsa. Sort of a take on Hawaiian style. We topped it all off with garlic fries and a beer. (We were hungry. Ha ha). I didn't take many pics today. Oops. Consider me educated. Yummmmmmmy. No further comments needed. Look at pics. We got up late - 9am. Dawdled around. Clint made coffee and I made matcha green tea. We both loved ours. Then read and otherwise lounged until 11:30. Got on bike at that time and headed to the Rusdian River pub for lunch. We ordered garlic fries, of course! Can't get them in Canada. Also got the corned beef Reuben sandwich. Oooh mmmyyyy GGGooooddd!!! It was the best corned beef ever! Obviously home corned! Ohhhh the flavours. Not do salty. Perfect spices. Oh huh wow!! The garlic fries were pretty special, too. About 2 tbsp garlic cooked gently with oil and then a tbsp of fresh Parmesan. Amazing! But the corned beef - I hope I NEVER forget that. Then on to Cotati for new bike battery. It was having a hard time starting the bike so was due. Nice warm loopy ride. Aaaaaaaahhhhhh. The weatherbusbpure heaven, healing. Here are the pix I took. Here we are in Medford. Got up at 3am and hit the road by 3:45. No cars at Peace Arch border crossing. It was raining a bit and got worse. Oh well. Still Spring Break. Yay! Rained steady with headwind until just past Portland, Oregon. Then it got better. Not great, but easier driving. Got here to Medford at 1:15. Almost sunny. 20-something degrees out. Glorious. Here's a funny picture of the bike in the truck. We have no canopy for pickup and Clint had just washed, waxed, and detailed the bike so insisted we cover it against road spray grime. He bought a big roll of that plastic stretch wrap and we wrapped up the bike! It worked pretty well. Looks mighty strange tho. |
